| SEPTEMBER
2004
Don’t forget to call me for “Hispanic Heritage”
Month Sept. 15 – Oct. 15, remember the only Hispanic stuff
you really do is: speak Spanish and go to church, the rest of
it mostly indigenous Mexican Indian and, of course, USA/Euro culture
stuff but we are not aware of what components they are. When I
ask people, no one knows what the ancient root of the word “Hispanic”
mean, which I’ll tell you later but, basically, it refers
to and implies, truly, things of SPANISH in origin (Spain), it
totally negates ANY Indigenous origin. When I’m eating my
frijoles and tortillas, I’m aware that it’s not Hispanic
at all. More later…in person

taught about the Nose Flute back in ’96 in Laia, Oahu when
I visited well known instrument maker, Etua Tauhari, now, I carry
on the ancient tradition here, even though I’m not Hawaiian.
Gotta love me, heehee…
October

Oct
9, 2004 El Dia De Los Muertos at Rancho Los Alamitos, Long Beach,
CA
My friends at the rancho have re-invited again to present my educational
and entertaining programs, once again.
My program called "Sounds of Ancient Mexico" will be
at 9am, 10am 11am and 130pm I will also discuss indigenous food
and lecture about this holiday. Other workshops on Decorative
Folk Art; Arts and Crafts; and The Mexican Kitchen. Call (562)
431.3541 ext. 103 for information.
SAD NOTE: Can you believe it, this event was gonna be catered
by a famous chef and teachers would've got credit for this event
and it only cost $40 and it was cancelled due to lack of enrollment,
it goes to show that if a significant event happens and it doesn't
have something trendy in it, people won't go. There is apathy
here in L.A., I've seen it, I travel and tour. This was really
an unusual event...maybe it wasn't cool because it was not going
to be an "altar contest". Sad...

MEXIKA performs at this event. I will give an educational, humanistic

artists. They will perform, several dances of Aztec, or rather
more correctly, Mexika origin and will also include the Danza
De La Muerte (Dance of Death). The MEXIKA group, will be accompanying
the danzantes with traditional Mexika rhythms, not just on Huehuetl
Drums but Teponaztli, Ayotl and more and Martin will add what
you don't hear in Danza very much, WIND instruments.
