EK B'ALAM DANCE ENSEMBLE

THE MAIN IDEA:
Martin Espino, veteran master musician, scholar, educator and composer & Rosa Garcia, master choreographer lead this new group that presents Mexican Dance and Music as never before, using both ancient instruments of Mexico mixed with technology and motives of indigenous Mexicano dance with Modern choreography producing a cutting edge and fresh take on the Mexican arts.

At an EBDE show, Rosa and Martin mix culture, history, ancient attire with a modern flair. Exquisitely choreographed dancing and exotic sounding instruments!!! They may also add in indigenous story telling, set to either music and dance or just music.

The dance, the stories and the music with all those exotic/cosmic sounds from clay flutes, ocarinas, quadruple flutes, water drums, turtle shells, log drums and more are all based on scholarly research.

The result is a spiritual, sonic and visual pleasure with the dancer and musicians exploring new avenues of sight and sound!
