UPCOMING "CD" RELEASES:
Wassup? Let me tell you that I like the music I create on my CDs to be relaxing and sense oriented yet authentic sounding. Well, I am putting my expertise to good work here and so basically, all these recordings will be different sounding but their underlying connection will be that of being relaxing and beautiful sounding...nothing scary or stupid.
”THE HEART OF BAMBOO” Release date: April 2005
Here, Martin Espino, plays on nothing but instruments he constructed from Bamboo. Special guest musicians include: Ze Bruno, Brasilian master percussionist; Chris Garcia and Erick Barraza, of MEXIKA; Christine Stevens, of REMO percussion fame, famous for her books on Drum Circles. Basically, I've had this idea in my head since 1989 and too many things got in my way, now this recording will be a reality. This will be my first solo artist recording since 1985/89's CURANDERO.
“MUSICA FELIZ” (Happy Music) Release date: sometime in 2005
MEXIKA's first CD as a group. Upbeat, yet peaceful and happiness inspiring, "Authentic Sounds of Ancient Mexico", all based on my scholarly research. I love our tendency as Mexicanos to make mysterious sounding music with our ancient instruments, which is how a lot of people think our ancient music must have been, but here I want to take a different direction and show the other side of our sounds. I mean it’s like as if someone unearthed a piano 3,000 years from and started to play nothing but slow and mysterious music on it and then everybody started to believe that that was how piano music sounded long ago! Our instruments are capable of many moods and colors of sound. In MUSICA FELIZ I decided to play music of a different feel as well as inspire happiness and make people move and dance! Kids will really like this CD.
Reasons for this recording? I wanted something parents could play for their kids, although this is NOT a children’s CD. I just want to access everyone and I figured “HAPPINESS” is something cool to reach everyone with!!! Also, as our sounds become more available to people, I find that very few recordings of these instruments explore the many aspects of our heritage and I don’t want everyone to start to believe that our ancient music was limited and only sounded one way. In other words, this CD will be cool enough to play in your Chevy 69 Low Rider or your 2005 Mercedes; and in the garage with the homies or in your living room with your grandma and for your kids’ classroom!!!
MORE UPCOMING CD PROJECTS to come!!!
FINAL NOTE: Ok ma’ homies and yoo otherz, fah shizzlez I gotta go....but there'll be more to come, especially if I meet someone rich who wants to help me! And a note to the wannabees and cowards: don’t copy me foo!
Sinceramente, Martin Espino

“May the Creator be with you”
A traditional farewell, in “Yoemem”, language of the Yaqui people, part of my heritage.
