MARTIN ESPINO: Two (2) Lectures:

"ORIGINS" WHO ARE THE MEXICAN PEOPLE?
Description:
Discussion of migration theories, legends, language, cultural achievements, history, culture and philsophy.  No opinions, no jokes just facts!

"MUSIC OF ANCIENT MEXICO"
Description:
Discussion of instruments, their uses, who used them, comparison to the instruments of the modern orchestra, their construction and interspersing audience involvement by playing the percussion instruments Martin brings. Audience also sings in indigenous languages as well. All this in order to put the music in context and experience the culture on a much fuller level instead of just talking or watching me play. Facts, yes but definitely fun and nurturing the inner need for sound.

"EL DIA DE LOS MUERTOS"
Description:
Beore people were lecturing in this subject, I started doing it, I remember being the only one. In my lecture I discuss the origins and myths about this celebration. It's not the Mexican Halloween! I see more and more people discover our celebration is safe and now they're trying to mix it with Halloween or attending Muertos events dressed in costumes other than calavera attire (skeleton). Discussion that there are no "altars" but rather ofrendas. This and many other things I speak about. I also include music on the ancient instruments and some audience interaction!!!
